George Alagiah joined the BBC in 1989 after seven years in print journalism with South Magazine. He is, currently, the presenter of the Six O'clock News. Before going behind the studio desk, Alagiah was one of the BBC's leading foreign correspondents, recognised throughout the industry for his reporting on some of the most significant events of the last decade.
